Guys and Grooming

GUYS AND GROOMING

Men beauty products / Male grooming

Men beauty products along with male grooming have now become a $30 billion industry. Gone are the days when cosmetics and other manufacturers of beautifying products only targeted women and keeping yourself groomed was a thing of women only.

Male grooming has grown rapidly over the years as the media and the society have also highlighted that grooming oneself should be not be gender based. Grooming is not only about following fashion and the latest trends and styles but also taking care of oneself.

For example men’s skin tends to have larger pores which can accumulate dirt. The beauty products of men and women are not much different but there is a difference in skin for example. Females have softer skin but men have thicker skin and their face needs to use slightly abrasive drying method. Therefore due to difference in skin, hair and body types, the beauty products vary as well and men use them popularly.

If you start to count the qualities of an ideal man being well groomed is certainly amongst the top five along with responsible, educated, caring, hardworking etc. Male grooming enhances the personality and adds charm and style to a person.

The top most thing that is almost being used by men are beard and shave trimmers. With the beards coming back in fashion, it is necessary to keep them neat and trimmed. Beard and hair trimmers have been the most popular item in male grooming. Talking about trimmers one cannot leave out shaving creams. Even if the beards are back, so many men are still supporting the clean shave look.

Everybody is different and so is their skin. What suits one face could result in a horrible reaction on others. Moreover, as the global climate is changing and at the rate pollution is increasing it has become important to take care of skin and men are. With a wide range of shaving creams available for different skin types, the market of shaving creams and lotions have peaked a lot and are considered integral in male grooming.

Coming to the beauty products, about 72% of men feel that they felt a prominent change and betterment in their hair and skin by using more natural products. Looks are important sure, but being well groomed adds a shine to the personality. And men of today, have realized that because of which so many men beauty products are available and popularly bought in the market.

Benefits of wearing the right colors

BENEFITS OF WEARING THE RIGHT COLORS

1. Correct colors will make the skin appear clearer, calm any redness, lighten shadows and make the jaw line seem firmer, thereby creating a more youthful appearance.
Wrong colors will make the skin look too pale, sallow or too yellow, flushed or uneven, drawn or tired, emphasise shadows or lines, generally soften the jaw line creating an older, unattractive appearance.

2. Eyes look bright and sparkling. The color of the iris is intensified and the white appears clearer.
Wrong colors will give the eye a dull, lifeless look. Whites can appear yellowed.

3. Correct colors can give the illusion of slimming the body; take the eye up to the face and away from problem areas.
Wrong colors can highlight problems, making areas look larger or more prominent, taking attention away from the face.

4. Knowing the correct seasonal palette will enable a wardrobe to fully co-ordinate,therefore extending the use of all clothes and accessories.

The beauty of nature

There can be few people who have not looked around at fields, trees, flowers, plants; animals, birds, the sea and the sky without marvelling at the sheer beauty of the tones and combinations that nature provides.

Nature has also given every person a unique palette or aura, which blends the colors of eyes, skin and hair to best effect.

The tone of skin or color of eyes should never be changed but many people will experiment with altering the color of their hair, which is perfectly acceptable as long as they understand the vital differences between warm and cool shades and the effects they can have on their appearance. There is a shade of red or blonde hair to suit everyone, as long as it reflects his or her natural palette.

The importance of color

The importance of color

Benefits of color analysis

color analysis

Imagine a day without color. No yellow sunrises, blue skies or pure white snow – a world deprived of thousands of rainbow hues that we take for granted. Colors dominate our senses and impact on our first impressions of other people.

Colors create moods; for example, blue is considered calming and soothing, while red is aggressive and promotes wealth.

Choosing colors that compliment your natural skin tone, eyes and hair shade will improve your appearance by making you seem more attractive and energetic.

different colors

Conversely, wearing clothes of the wrong shades can age your face and make you look drained and ‘washed out’.

Identifying your personal palette will not only improve your general look but will enable you to build a wardrobe that interacts together at all levels and allows the maximum use of every garment and accessory.

First impressions are vitally important. A sense of confidence and comfort in what we are wearing sends positive signals to other people, while feelings of unease will transmit negative moods. Subconsciously, we are most happy with our appearance when wearing complimentary colors – and it shows!

Early last century, the Bauhaus artist Johannis Itten theorized that his students produced better work when they were allowed to choose colors themselves.

He noticed there was a definite relationship between choice of color, personal appearance and personality.

A decade later, colors were classified as either warm or cool. It was discovered color could be divided into four naturally harmonious groups. In turn, a person’s skin tone fell into one of these groups.

This led to the concept of classifying colors into the four seasons:

  • Spring
  • Summer
  • Autumn
  • Winter

Although people were usually unaware of their ‘season’, they tended to pick colors that matched that season and often had personalities that resonated with their natural season.

The importance of our Image and appearance

Image is quite simply the way others see and perceive us. The components of image are appearance, behavior and communication.

How you present yourself to the world influences the way people react to you.

self confidence

For example, if you arrive to give a presentation on investment strategies dressed in a sports cap and casual clothing, your audience may think you are not a competent business professional. You may have an advanced degree in finance and be a leading expert in your field, but your image is not aligned with your talent.

Image impacts not only on how others see you, but also on how you see yourself. No one is perfect and I will teach you how to disguise the parts you do not like and enhance your natural assets, thereby creating the illusion of a balanced body. This will empower you to feel more confident and positive and it will influence the way you interact with the world.

eyes

Many may argue that image is superficial – it’s what is inside that truly matters. However, image is very much about being true to who you are as a person. In the absence of information about someone’s character, how do we assess his or her abilities other than by using our animal instincts of sight and smell which has helped man to survive since time began? How do we even determine our approach to them? No one ever has a second opportunity to make a first impression.

a man smiling and happy

When we meet someone for the first time, our impressions are formed as follows:

Factor                                                                                    Our first impression

Image and appearance                                                           55%
Body language                                                                       38%
Spoken word                                                                          7%

Most of us want our outward image to be synchronised with who we are and what we wish to accomplish.
Managing your image is the process of putting your best self forward. You are not attempting to be just like everyone else. You are improving what you have, while preserving your uniqueness. But not everyone knows how to achieve this successfully

people

Companies rely on image to establish credibility with their customers. Most consumers would not buy products and services from a company that presented an image of sloppy workmanship and poor service.
In that same way, your image can establish your credibility. Image is what opens doors for you, but once inside, your knowledge and competency is what earns respect. Knowing that you look the very best you can allows you to relax, which automatically gives others the impression of confidence.
